Independence Day Community Clean-Up Charity Event In Kayunga On 9th October 2021

We held a community clean-up in Kayunga community on 9th October in partnership with other organizations i.e WAY (We Are Youth), SWAT Entertainment, Fik Tube, Dj Magic Touch, Namagabi Secondary School OBs and OGs and some other individuals. We did this through our Clean-up,Stay health campaign under our health program. We cleaned Kayunga market and the towns around. We made a visit at Kayunga referral hospital where we made a donation to different patients in the hospital i.e women in the maternity ward, children and some other admitted patients, after we went and also paid at Tender Mercies foundation still in Kayunga and we made some donations to them like Sugar, Salt, Soap, Clothes, Food among others.

OBJECTIVES

  • To create more awareness of the organization to the Kayunga community and the public.
  • To ensure that the environment is safe, clean and healthy.
  • To teach and show people in the community that they should prioritize their healthy.
  • To show love to the patients through donating to them and giving them hope of getting better.
  • To increase hygiene in the community of Kayunga.

ACHIEVEMENTS

  • The community cooperated well with us during the cleaning and some gave a helping hand.
  • The team and other individuals were so cooperative and they made the activity a success.
  • We were able to put a smile on the faces of the patients and women who had just given birth through our talks and donations.
  • The public got to know more about our foundation, what we do and where we are located.
  • The hospital welcomed us well, they appreciated the good work that we had done and for having good hearts.
  • The team and other people from different organizations had a great time with the children at tender mercies through the dancing, games and talks.
  • The children at tender mercies foundation had fun with us and they were so excited seeing the visitors.
  • We left the community clean, safe and healthy.

CHALLENGES

  • Poor time management by some of our partners they did reach in the agreed time at the pickup point.
  • Few donations to offer to patients in the hospital since it had many wards with a lot of people.
  • We found the hospital in their most busy hours, when the nurse and doctors were very busy working on many patients.
  • The weather conditions were not so favorable since it was so hot making people to get exhausted so first before the cleaning could end.

SOLUTIONS

  • Put up the dates in time for people to bring in donations and also to raise money to buy donations in time.
  • Informing our partners to reach two hours before the departure time to avoid reaching late and also encourage time keeping on event days.
